As a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, the annual Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad regional sports festival brings people together in the spirit of friendly competition for the broader purpose of promoting health and wellness, charitable giving, regional tourism and economic development.  Since 2005, the Olympiad has given back over $120,000 to charities.

  • Held in beautiful Lake Lure, NC - named one of the "ten most beautiful man-made lakes" by National Geographic and also named one of the best lakes for water-skiing by Waterski Magazine

  • More than 20 competitive events

ABOUT THE BOARD OF GOVERNORS

We are your neighbors.  We are your friends.  We are the friendly faces you see at the grocery store.  We are moms, dads, husbands and wives.  We are people who love where we live so much that we want to do something meaningful to give back.  Thus, we volunteer and dedicate an entire year to the planning, development and production of this wonderful event we call the Olympiad.

So, we thank you for your support of Olympiad, our community and our charities.
We look forward to seeing you in Lake Lure this August!

With sincere thanks,
