What We Do

As a non-profit organization run entirely by volunteers, the annual Hickory Nut Gorge Olympiad regional sports festival brings people together in the spirit of friendly competition for the broader purpose of promoting health and wellness, charitable giving, regional tourism and economic development.  Since 2005, the Olympiad has given back over $140,000 to charities.

MORE VOLUNTEERS NEEDED

Did you know that it takes more than 200 volunteers to run the Olympiad "Summer Sports Festival?"  Trust us when we say that we cannot do this event without YOU!

Volunteers are a vital part of this giant puzzle we call the Olympiad, and they are a treasured group of people.  Year after year, athletes from across the country compliment the Olympiad on its amazing volunteers.  These athletes appreciate you, and they come back to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock because of the warm welcome and quality assistance you give them.

We invite you to join our team of helping hands and smiling faces to ensure the continued success of this ever-growing charitable sports festival.  Because of you, we are able to provide challenging, yet extremely fun events and activities and also contribute much needed funding to many charities across our community.

Whether it's for one hour, one day or the entire festival, please help us keep up the good work by lending a hand, or two.  We look forward to your involvement and thank you in advance for giving so generously of your time.
