What
Opening Ceremonies kick off an exciting weekend of athletics, competition and family fun, and feature:

Tasty Beach Barbeque - All the traditional southern barbeque, hot dogs, hamburgers and chips you can eat for very reasonable prices.  Later in the evening, free ice cream sundaes await you!

Spectacular Water Ski Show - The Lake Lure Ski Club will put on an exciting show with high-flying wakeboard flips, ski pyramids, water ballet, barefoot skiing and more. Come and be wowed!

Lake Lure 5-Mile Dam Run - A rigorous race for serious athletes that starts at the Lake Lure Fire Station on 64/74A and finishes on the Resort Beach.

Lighting of the Olympiad Torch - Always brings a lump to the throat and a swell of pride as the National Anthem is played!

1-Mile Family Fun Run/Walk - A great family event covering a mile-long run through the Resort ending at the Beach. The $10 cost includes a bracelet that will let you enjoy all Standard Events at the Resort and/or the Town Beach on Saturday.
 
Shag Dance & Competition - Dance to win or just come to dance.  Let DJ Fessa John Hook help you shag the night away on the terrace of the Rumbling Bald Resort Lakeview Restaurant.

Fireworks - Once the skies have darkened, we'll be treated to an amazing display of pyrotechnics, courtesy of Rumbling Bald Resort! What a great way  set the stage for a full schedule of exciting and fun-filled events on Saturday.
