Testimonials
5K RUN THE ROCK Mike Darling, 27 of
Grand Falls, N.C.
Overall Male Gold Winner
of both the 5-Mile Dam
Run and the 5K Run the
Rock, 2008
[The 5-Mile Dam
Run] was “a fun race to
do because it was
downhill most of the
way,
but it was not as
tough as the Race to the
Rock.”
***************
Karen Van Sickler,
Lake Lure, N.C.
Gold Medal, Age
Division,
5K Run the Rock, 2008
Described the run to the
top of Chimney Rock as
the
“most miserable
experience of my life."
However, when asked if
she
was going to do it
again this year, Van
Sickler quickly
responded,
“most
definitely!”
***************
Davy Rowe of Davidson,
N.C. Gold, 40-44
Male Age Group,
5K Run the Rock, 2008
“You couldn’t ask for
[the Race to the Rock]
to be any better;
absolutely the nicest
people I’ve ever
encountered in a race.
I would absolutely
recommend doing this
event.”
***************
Ken Brown, 65, of
Snellville, G.A. who
participated in all
three races in 2008.
“I had a great time in
Lake Lure and Chimney
Rock.
The events
were fun and offered me
a challenge. Race
management was
superior
and volunteers were
plentiful and very
helpful. I had an
overwhelming ‘sense of
community togetherness’
the moment I got into
town. This was
truly a great three-day
vacation for me.
This past weekend will
go down as one of my
best memories.”
